Business restructuring and testing new waters: 1981-1997

1982 Established an overseas office in New York (later to become a local subsidiary).
Established the Kashima Factory.
1983 Consolidated into two main divisions: pharmaceuticals group and fine chemical group.
Obtained permission for production of Randa injections.
Moved the company head office to 11-2, Fujimi, 1-chome, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
1985 Closure of the Kokura dye plant.
Commenced polarizers business.
1986 Commemorated 70th anniversary and constituted a new corporate symbol.
1988 Opening of Dusseldorf office (later relocated to Frankfurt and became a German corporation).
1990 Completed migration of agrochemical manufacturing division of the Tokyo plant to the Kashima plant.
Began shipping airbag samples from the Himeji plant.
1991 Established Polatechno Co., Ltd., a jointventure company of functional films.
1992 Completed the training center "Hishou."
Established Kayaku Sartomer Co., Ltd.
1993 Established Taiwan Nippon Kayaku Co., Ltd.
Opening of Shanghai foreign office.
1994 Nikka Jitsugyo Co., Ltd. merged with Naigai Kogyo Co., Ltd. to form Naigai Nikka Co., Ltd.
Supply of airbag inflators was started.
1995 Established a subsidiary company in food business, Nippon Kayaku Food Techno Co., Ltd.
Established a joint venture, Zhaoyuan Advanced Chemical Co., Ltd. in China.
1996 Established a joint venture, Wuxi Advanced Chemical Co., Ltd. (currently Wuxi Advanced Kayaku Chemicals Co., Ltd.) in China.
Commemorated 80th anniversary.
