Catalysts are important substances used to efficiently produce chemical substances that are the raw materials for our various products. The quality of the catalyst greatly influences the price of the final product.

Nippon Kayaku develops, manufactures, and sells catalysts for the production of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid (direct oxidation method), and has gained high reputation from customers.

Acrylic acid is used as a raw material for SAP (super absorbent polymer) applied in disposable diapers, acrylic paints and adhesives for automobiles, and polymer flocculant for water treatment. Methacrylic acid is used in optical applications such as light guide plates for FPDs, transparent resins used in large aquariums, automotive parts, and artificial marbles.

Nippon Kayaku Catalysts are used to produce acrylic acid and methacrylic acid. Acrylic acid is a raw material for super absorbent polymers, acrylic paints, and adhesives. Methacrylic acid is usually esterified to MMA monomer, which is a feedstock for acrylic resins of which transparency and impact resistance are utilized as a substitute for glass, such as large aquarium.
